A recording of that one moment in time when all the elements line up to allow the artist to capture the perfect combination of light, shadow, color, action, expression and emotion to form the perfect image. A moment that can be expected maybe anticipated but not created. For if the image is created, as in the studio, it can be recreated time and time again and is not a fleeting moment in time. Since a decisive moment is unplanned and involves action or the temporary positioning of key elements it typically refers to dynamic developing situations. Photography is not like painting: “There is a creative fraction of a second when you are taking a picture. Your eye must see a composition or an expression that life itself offers you, and you must know with intuition when to click the camera. That is the moment the photographer is creative. The Moment! Once you miss it, it is gone forever.”
